Petros Markaris

Petros Markaris, born 1937 in Istanbul, is a playwright, worked as a author with Theo Angelopoulos (director of ›The Beekeeper‹, ›Ulysses’ Gaze‹ etc.), and translated the works of German dramatists, like Brecht and Goethe – he recently translated ›Faust‹ I and II in verse form into Greek. Petros Markaris began writing crime fiction in the mid 1990s. Today, Inspector Costas Haritos is often referred to in the same breath as Wallander, Montalbano and Brunetti. Petros Markaris lives in Athens. Petros Markaris’ books are published in 13 languages.
