Charles Lewinsky's Halfbeard on the Swiss bestseller list for 14 weeks

Charles Lewinsky's Halfbeard has remained on the Swiss top 20 bestseller list for 14 weeks until the middle of December, and counting. Upon publication, he made it to #1.

But it's not only the sales that distinguish Halfbeard: It was one of the five titles shortlisted for the Swiss Book Prize. The jury said: »He tells of the powerful and of the outsiders in a palpable and forceful manner and opens a new view of the legendary battle of Morgarten.«

Furthermore, Halfbeard was longlisted for the German Book Prize 2020. The longlist was comprised of 20 novels. The annual prize, which comes with an honorarium of EUR 37,500, is awarded by the Foundation for Book Culture and the Promotion of Reading of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association.

Moreover, Charles Lewinsky has been awarded the ›Dreitannen Literary Award‹ by the Literary Festival Olten (Switzerland). The prize comes with an honorarium of 5'000 Swiss Francs. This is the first year in which the Literary Festival Olten awards a prize.

Here's the latest press on Halfbeard:

»That such a book is in the best sense of the word a page-turner, which one can hardly put down, proves the proficiency of the author.«
Oliver Jungen / Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), Frankfurt

»In Halfbeard, Charles Lewinsky hasn’t only written a rousing novel, but a political one too.«
Anne-Sophie Scholl / Die Republik, Zurich

»Just like Sebi can’t stop telling his story, neither can the reader pull themselves away from it – and for the duration of almost 700 captivating pages.«
Stuttgarter Zeitung, Stuttgart

»Lewinsky’s tome isn’t just an accomplished historical novel, but above all a humorous, ingenious and wonderful celebration of storytelling.«
Heinz Storrer / Schweizer Familie, Zurich

»The richness and depth of Lewinsky’s narrative guarantee its appeal to a broad readership.«
