Polish and Russian rights of Love in Case of Emergency sold, further English press
Sonia Draga snapped up Polish rights of Daniela Krien’s Love in Case of Emergency, as did Foliant for Russian rights.
In terms of domestic sales, we have sold a total of 180k of Love in Case of Emergency.
Looking at recent foreign publications, MacLehose is building Daniela Krien’s oeuvre in English, with further enthusiastic press for Love in Case of Emergency (Love in Five Acts in its UK edition) pouring in, after its May release:

Now published: A Friendship, letters by Jörg Fauser and Carl Weissner
»Caro Carlo«, »Dear Harry« – this is often how the letters and postcards, which Carl Weissner and Jörg Fauser wrote to each other over the years, begin. Their great affection for one another is a constant presence, while the topics revolve around often precarious financial situations, holidays and booze-filled nights, and their great frustration over the construction of the ›literary industry‹. While Fauser never really gained a foothold in it during his lifetime, Carl Weissner had already made a name for himself with his translations of Bukowski and Zappa's lyrics, and often made an appearance as a mentor, calming voice or even editor.

Rights quartet for Daniela Krien's The Fire before publication
We have just sold English UK rights of Daniela Krien’s latest novel The Fire to MacLehose Press, Italian rights to Corbaccio, Catalan rights to Bromera and Norwegian rights to Forlaget Press. This is especially remarkable even before its publication in German on 28 July.
Here's the plot of The Fire: Rahel and Peter have been married for almost 30 years. Quietly and imperceptibly at first, then with a loud bang, the love has taken its leave from their marriage. They embark on a summer vacation, intended to salvage what still remains between them.

Boy with a Black Rooster by Stefanie vor Schulte nominated for ›Klaus-Michael Kühne Prize‹
Stefanie vor Schulte's debut novel Boy with a Black Rooster is one of eight novels shortlisted for the ›Klaus-Michael Kühne Prize‹. The prize is awarded to the »best novel debut novel of the year« and the ceremony will be held at the Harbour Front festival in Hamburg on 19 September 2021. ›The Klaus-Michael Kühne Prize‹ comes with an honorarium of EUR 10'000.
Boy with a Black Rooster by Stefanie vor Schulte is going to be out in shops by 25 August. Here's the plot: Eleven-year-old Martin has nothing but the shirt on his back, and a black rooster which is both a protector and a friend. When he seizes the chance to leave his village, he is led into a terrible world.
