Andrej Kurkow

Andrey Kurkov was born 1961 in St. Petersburg, and has lived in Kiev since childhood. He studied foreign languages (he is fluent in eleven languages), was a newspaper editor and, during his military service, a prison guard. Afterwards, he became a cameraman and wrote numerous screenplays. He has been a freelance author since 1996 and also works in radio and television. Andrej Kurkow’s books have been published in 34 languages.
