Charles Lewinsky’s Halfbeard shortlisted for the Swiss Book Prize
Charles Lewinsky’s latest novel Halfbeard is one of the five titles shortlisted for the Swiss Book Prize.
The jury says: »He tells of the powerful and of the outsiders in a palpable and forceful manner and opens a new view of the legendary battle of Morgarten.« The award ceremony will take place on 9 November, on the occasion of the festival BuchBasel. The prize is worth 42'000 Swiss Francs in total, of which 30'000 go to the winner and 3'000 to each of the other four nominees.
Halfbeard was also longlisted for the German Book Prize 2020. The longlist was comprised of 20 novels. The annual prize, which comes with an honorarium of EUR 37,500, is awarded by the Foundation for Book Culture and the Promotion of Reading of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association. The prize is intended to draw attention beyond national borders to authors writing in German, to reading and to the keynote medium of the book.
Halfbeard has been published on 26 August 2020. Charles Lewinsky’s works have been published in 14 languages so far.
