The Spy and the Rockstar

Behind the window of a Venetian palace, Giorgio Alimante is waiting impatiently for Ogden's arrival. The Lance of Longinus – an object over which Hitler and Churchill fought – has been stolen from him, and Alimante wants it back. Although Ogden does not believe that the recovery of the lance is worthy of a top spy, he is forced to take on the mission. While in Venice, Ogden naturally does not intend to miss the concert of his friend Bob Hibbing on the Piazza San Marco. The rock start has remained true to his principles and for decades has been single-mindedly performing his rebellious songs - the reason why Ogden loves his music, but also a reason to be anxious for him. Hibbing possesses that for which the éminences grises in Venice and Washington would give everything: an almost magical power over minds and emotions.

The Red Diary

Sicilian judge Paolo Borsellino noted everything he found out about the entanglements between the mafia and politics in his red diary. But ever since he was assassinated in 1992, the diary has been lost without a trace. This is the inspiration for Liaty Pisani's latest spy novel. Agent Ogden sets out to track down the red diary. His search leads him into the icy spheres of the strategists who hold great power in Italy – the faces who are well known to the public, but never called to account. A tense spy thriller about the unscrupulous battle for power and privileges.

The Signora's Diary

Fascists in Italy today are dressed as businessmen, passing themselves off as men of the world who have nothing to do with the ›bad old days‹. But the past cannot be denied, and there are still people whose memories remain unadulterated. Like Signora Brandini. In her diary, she documented the events that took place back then, in September 1943, at Meina on the Lago Maggiore – how the massacre of civilians came about and who was responsible. She was 17 at the time and could only look on as her friends were murdered before her. But she is not only tormented by her memories – her suffering is even greater as she knows that the guilty have never been brought to justice. That is why she wants her diary to be published. It is not to a journalist that the Signora entrusts the matter, but to an artist – Frank Veronese. A dangerous undertaking, because those involved have no wish to be portrayed as criminals. With all of the resources at their disposal, they attempt to stop the diary being made public.

The Spy and the Actor

After a nine day meditation seminar on Mykonos, actor Stephan Lange thinks that it will take quite a bit to throw him. But barely has he left the island when he learns that George Kenneally has been killed in a plane crash with his own plane. Lange is shattered, for he is sure that it was not a tragic accident, as the press maintain, but murder. His friend had planned to stand as president of the United States, and it seems that this upset someone. Meanwhile, Ogden goes on holiday in his step-brother's luxurious villa on Tinos. Now that he has left the spy business he is trying to decide what to do with his life. He does not get far with his plans, however, for it is not long before Stephan Lange is standing at his door with unknown pursuers at his heels. Gentleman Ogden acts at once. He and Lange leave the Cyclades via Monte Carlo and Berne on their way to Berlin where they stage a showdown with the help of the secret service. Justice before mercy – Liaty Pisani is more uncompromising than ever in her fourth Ogden novel. Events take their direct and relentless course towards the pre-destined finale like in a Greek tragedy.

The Spy and the President

New York, August 2001. The oligarch Borowski is worried: his clairvoyant has left him shortly before an attack on the Russian president is due to take place. As long as he could rely on her visions he felt safe. Now he is plagued by nightmares. What has she seen? One thing is certain: she knows a lot, enough to make her a subject of great interest to agent Ogden. For Ogden has been assigned by the highest authority to protect the Russian president and eliminate his enemies. If it were only Borowski, the task would be quickly done. But the network against the president stretches across the whole world, from Afghanistan via Chechnya to the USA. Preparations for the coup d'état are being made in Europe too, and Mafia boss Kachalow is ready to strike. A pity that Borowski has become so unpredictable. His nervousness imperils the whole operation. Kachalow summons him to Paris, but the situation is already out of hand… Liaty Pisani is not afraid of calling a spade a spade when dealing with the problems of the new millennium: striving for power, terror and hatred.

The Spy and the Banker

A Swiss banker is found dead and his son disappears the next day. Ogden, who has just retired from the secret service, is engaged in the role of a private detective to find the twenty-year-old Willy. But the affair is not as private as it seems at first glance. Willy knows something that cost his father his life – something to do with the whereabouts of Jewish wealth in the nineteen-forties. Willy's father showed him documents which alarm not only the banks but also a number of foreign secret services. These fifty-year-old stories are by no means forgotten, and the missing money is now in the hands of important state-leading institutions. Ogden is once again in his familiar metier. The search for Willy takes him from Zurich to the South of France where Willy, following his intuition, fled to the land of the Cathars. These heretics were fought in the Middle Ages – as were the Jews even at that time – and unnihilated in the Albigensian Crusade. Topical issues get mixed up with history, private matters mingle with political affairs, and national and temporal borders merge. Liaty Pisani approaches the theme of genocide with great sensitivity while at the same time developing an exciting plot with an almost Spielberg-like finale.
